Bathroom Inventory Guide for Homeowners
When dealing with an insurance Claim or a construction project, creating an inventory of your bathroom items is essential, albeit complicated. In general, most of the larger items - like tubs, toilets and vanities - are permanently affixed to the home and covered elsewhere, but the list of personal items can be a mile long. A the risk of repeating much of this, we are going to outline many of the most common items found in a variety of bathrooms, but we will also provide completely separate articles about Beauty & Health and Home Goods, just be careful not to double count. There is going to be a ton of crossover. We are also going to largely ignore Baby & Infant items in this context since there is an entire chapter dedicated to the next generation.
All that said, this guide in particular is designed to help homeowners document their belongings across their bathrooms, ensuring no item is overlooked during claims or renovations. As is the case across the entire home, a well-organized inventory can save time, reduce stress, and provide accurate information to adjusters or contractors.
Types of Bathrooms
Primary Bathroom: This is the main bathroom in the home, usually attached to the primary bedroom. It typically features luxury elements like double vanities, separate showers and bathtubs, ample storage, and high-end finishes. This bathroom often contains the most personal and valuable items.
Guest Bathroom: Designed for visitors, the guest bathroom generally includes a standard Shower or bathtub, a Vanity, and storage. The items here are usually kept minimal and are often geared toward providing comfort and convenience to guests.
Kids Bathroom: A child-friendly space, the kids' bathroom often has safety features such as non-slip mats, lower countertops, and vibrant decor. It includes kid-specific items that cater to their needs, like step stools, bath toys, and gentle products.
Powder Room: Usually found near living areas, the powder room is a small bathroom with only a Sink and Toilet. It serves guests during gatherings and often has a more decorative style focused on aesthetics rather than utility.
